reverb_festival

Imogen’s headline performance at the Reverb Festival which she is curating this weekend at London’s Roundhouse is set to be webcast live!

The special show (her final performance of 2014) will feature an incredible band of people and machines, including the amazing Leafcutter John, performing songs from Sparks as well I Megaphone, Speak For Yourself and Ellipse.

You can watch the webcast live here from 7:30pm (London time) on Sunday 24th August.

More about Reverb Festival

Described by Imogen as an exploration in living contemporary composers with heavy leanings toward technology, Reverb will centre around four incredible shows at London’s legendary Roundhouse venue, alongside free workshops, talks and interactive sound installations.

You can try on her gloves, sit in the Listening chair and sit with the ‘arboreal lightening’ (a gigantic, interactive tree at the core of the building), become a human harp, see the speed of sound in light, make music with Jelly, hear talks from Adam Stark (Mi.Mu Gloves), Nick Ryan (Propeller Seeds), and Rob Thomas (Run-Time) amongst others!

Not to mention Imogen’s only show (Sunday 24th) this year with an incredible band of people and machines, including the amazing Leafcutter John. There’s also a chance to see her perform on Friday, improvisations with her piano, gloves and voice on the ‘one man band’ night. Two of Imogen’s greatest inspirations Tim Exile (who performed with Imogen on the Ellipse tour) and Arve Henriksen (who played trumpet on Speak For Yourself and Ellipse) are also playing.

Nick Ryan is premiering a piece called Synaes with the London contemporary orchestra and Quayola (visual artist) on Saturday and Imogen’s favourite live piece of music to date ‘black box music’ by Simon Steen Anderson will be opening the festival, along with Imogen’s festival introduction.

It’s going to be an incredible weekend! Come for the whole thing if you can. You can buy Reverb Pass, single tickets or even the uber sexy Golden glove pass and get all access, meet me / come to my sound check and get a pair of golden gloves to wear! It’s going to be a mega weekend after which I’m going to chill, take time off and prepare for motherhood!”

Message from immi

Alex Haw of Atmos Studio, who’s growing the Arboreal Lightening installation (huge amazing tree at the centrepiece of Roundhouse Camden’s main room for Reverb Festival) is looking for hard-working volunteers with initiative +some making experience to help thread 1.5km of LEDs into fittings!! Work taking place this Thursday (1st August) to Sunday (3rd August) and possibly the week after a bit too.

Please get in touch with him via this email address: mail@atmosstudio.com

If you’re one of our helpers, you’ll get to work with Alex, who’s a really incredible architect and designer. I’m massively inspired after collaborating with him.

As a thank you I can offer a ticket to the Sunday night show of mine at Reverb festival. You can also come listen in during and say (a likely little panicked) hello to me after the soundcheck.

Alex and myself have been dreaming up this tree for 18+ months but funding is tight and there’s a lot to do before it’s ready for installation!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks and much love, immi

#ninjaVAN charity concert in Vancouver

ninjavan (2)

Last night Imogen took part in #ninjaVAN, a hastily arranged charity concert in Vancouver, where she’s attending TED. Performers included Amanda Palmer, Neil Gaiman and Astronaut Chris Hadfield, amongst others!

Luckily Imogen’s keytar which had been damaged in transit from the UK was repaired with gorilla glue and she was able to perform!

Thanks to everyone who emailed us with offers of a replacement after the call out on Twitter & Facebook, and thanks also to everyone who went to the show and donated to the Vancouver Food Bank!
