to be honest its the sort of sound you could create on almost any synth, to me it sounds like a couple of layered 'pluck' wavetables, mixed with a sawtooth oscillator, and a short LP filter envelope, theres also alot of unison on it.
i might have a quick go at re-creating something similar...
edit:
figured it out, the 'pluck' comes form a slightly distorted clavinova with mixed in with the sound.
not a million miles away, only spent a couple of minutes on it, so its not exact...

i found the exact sound!
your sound was quite close, but as soon as you said its a type of clav, i went in to ableton live and searched through the clavs, and i found the exact sound, its called pseudo clav. |

Interesting! I dnno about other people, but I find it quite exciting when I discover a sound that was used in an actual song. eg.. finding presets on FM8 or DX7 synth, that were used on well known 80s songs, or the Roland D50 sound in Enya's 'Orinoco Flow'
i was looking through some Ableton presets and found the same one that Immi uses for 'Little Bird' when she plays it live. Also, it appears in the Denver Improv she did! It's a sound called 'Chiff Bass'
if anyone comes up with more Native Instruments/Ableton presets and sounds that Immi used in some of her songs, it would be great to get them posted up here |

Hey -- even more fun would be to create our own sounds and dare Imogen to use one of them in an upcoming tune. I'm not volunteering, but I do own a copy of Reaktor :):)

hi guys - i have been working since heapsong1 to create some new Kontakt instruments for immi's Eigenharp (or other controllers) using the heapsong1 soundseeds. they'll become part of her vast array of choices for sounds to use on heapsong2 and beyond. there are some really nice ones!
if any of you want to create some patches, custom presets, or instruments for her, just let me know in this thread or via PM, and i can compile them for her. this is not a formal thing, of course, but i'm happy to collect stuff and show it to her when the time is right. it would be easiest if the patches/presets/instruments can be easily imported into any of the Native Instruments players (Kontakt, Reaktor, etc), Ableton Live, Max4Live, or Structure.
Fans often give her actual instruments that she then uses in recordings (her baglama, little circuitbent gadgets, strange clarinet thingy, etc.), so why not virtual instruments? I will keep track of who sends what and make sure you're credited if she uses anything of yours.
DavidB and others - don't retweet this...let's just keep it here for now, K? i don't visit ibabble very often, though, so perhaps if stuff shows up here, could someone who knows how to reach me directly let me know via email?
Thanks!

i'd be happy to keep an eye out and let you know when/if stuff comes in, if that works for you. |
