Woo! I finally have it up! Well.. kind of. I don't want you guys to wait any longer. I only have the first day posted.. it's a little over 2,000 words long and I don't want you guys to deal with another week of silence. I'll just post the other three days in this thread when I have the time. Now, the entry...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

~~Day 1: The Arrival and Dinner~~

After saying a lovely goodbye to our parents, Rachelle and I were ready to board the plane to England. We were excited because we never flew on British Airways before and it was my first time to experience the fun of televisions right in front of your seat. We checked the BA website the day before to check out the list of films and saw that Constantine was on it. We were eager to watch it when we were on the plane, but for some odd reason, only our televisions (plus the person sitting beside us) were acting static and skipping every three seconds. Sooo.. no chance of seeing Constantine. I spent most of the time watching Cartoon Network.

It was a foggy day when we were arriving to London, and the plane had to make three small loops before it had its turn to descend. All we could see were clouds and fog that we didn’t know we hit the ground until we felt the impact. It really startled us. Hehe.

Getting our baggage was quick and easy. We made our way out to find someone holding a sign with our names on it. In an email, Immi said that someone would be waiting for us with a sign. We never had something like that before, so we were super excited, saying things like ‘oh, let’s ask the guy if we can randomly take a picture of him with the sign!’ and stuff like that. I was in complete shock to see, right in the middle of the crowd, Immi, holding our names up. I just stopped in my tracks, turned to Rachelle and whispered loudly “Oh my gosh! It’s Immi! It’s Immi!” Here we were, expecting a cab man to be holding a sign, but there Immi was, with the sign right under her eyes.

We exchanged hugs and then Justine popped up from the side with the camera. She taped the whole thing! Haha. I felt embarrassed because I wasn’t dressed quite appropriately (translation: not dressed as I WANTED to be..). Justine took a few more camera shots as we made our way to the cab. The driver’s name was Addie.. I hope that was spelled correctly. Anyways, the ride was about an hour long so we got to chat with Immi and Justine about what we were thinking of doing in London. I think our whole plan to go drinking one night (since we’re not of age in Canada, but are in England) was really funny. Besides the talking, I spent some time looking out the window and trying to remember the atmosphere of London. I was excited for my friend because it was her first time in London and she was looking forward to it.

It was raining quite a bit when we got out, but it wasn’t bothersome. Addie took out our luggage and we said bye bye to him. The four of us took a little walk and before we knew it, we were in front of the place. Into the elevator we went.. I kind of have a phobia of elevators but I was okay with it. Hehe. So, into the room we went. The pics below do not justify enough..

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v441/aggiechan/London/immitrip14.jpg (Oh my gosh.. St. Paul’s..)

We did our best to maintain our composure when Immi and Justine were in the apartment, but after they dropped us off and left (saying they would be back at 6pm), we just screamed like mad and started taking pictures. It was amazing. And the balcony.. man.. that was my favourite part. You could see St. Paul’s Cathedral on the side. It was remarkable. Loved it to shreads.

And oh man. You can imagine the number of heart attacks Rachelle and I got when we saw this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v441/aggiechan/London/immitrip6.jpg (hyperventilating..)

Thank you Immi. That was a lovely present you left on our beds. ^___^

We desperately tried to get some sleep on the plane (to adjust to the time), but it failed miserably. So we decided to sleep for a few hours.. to get ready for the evening. Luckily, my parents were able to contact me from the apartment phone so I was able to tell them that both of us were alright. So, we slept until 4pm. A comfy sleep.

We changed clothing and just strolled around the apartment room for a little while, until 6pm arrived. Justine came in first, with her cool video camera. Hehehe. After a little chat about Imogen’s music and where we first heard her from, Immi came to the door. Soo.. hmm.. let’s see.. I think we started with the wine first. We had a choice between red and white wine. I much more of a red fan so I took that, along with Rachelle, and I think Immi and Justine took the white. We sat on the balcony table, enjoying the wine, talking and laughing.

So, the first thing to eat was the.. well.. appetizer. Unfortunately, Immi couldn’t find those skewer sticks for the meal so she used match sticks instead. Hehehe. I thought it was really good.. Rachelle and I watched as Immi was wrapping pieces of bacon around short sticks of asparagus. It looked so tasty.. I think she called it, ‘Bacon Cuddling Asparagus’. Teehee. That’s where the match sticks came in.. to hold it all together. Grilled really nice on the pan.. I remember watching her and Justine in the kitchen while I was still drinking my red wine.. probably getting a bit tipsy. Hehe.

While food was being made, Immi said there was something in the closet of my suite. We opened it and there were ballooooons! Immi asked why weren’t we surprised.. well.. we confess, Immi. We opened the closet before you came, the balloons came out, and we quickly put them back in and closed the door because we thought we weren’t supposed to open it! Hehe. It was definitely a surprise at that time! But what we didn’t know (back to the second time opening the closet door) was that there was a champagne bottle in the back of the shelf! Yummyyyy!! Here are the balloons:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v441/aggiechan/London/immitrip22.jpg (I managed to take a picture while the blue one was still in the air! Haha! Took me a while to get it right. There were actually a lot more, but I shoved half of them into Rachelle’s room.)

We went back on the balcony and dug in. Mmmmmmm. They were delish. I was never a fan of asparagus (first time admitting it in public) but I wanted to give things like this a shot. Things like this sort of happen to me when I’m in England (this was my second time here). On the first time, somewhere in Scotland I think, when I was eating my first English breakfast, I noticed a big juicy mushroom on the side of my plate. I always detested mushrooms, but I thought ‘what the hey’ and took a bite. Now, I love mushrooms. The same goes for asparagus now. Haha. What the UK does to you. Anyways, the appetizer was great. I plan to make it for my family one day. =)

It was getting quite windy.. I think that was the reason we moved inside for the main course. Well, before Rachelle and I went downstairs (Immi and Justine were in the kitchen at the time, working on the next meal), we spent a little time on the edge of the balcony.. taking some nice and funny pics.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v441/aggiechan/London/immitrip15.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v441/aggiechan/London/immitrip16.jpg (Hahaha.. that’s how windy it was.. I just had to take a picture of Rachelle with it..)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v441/aggiechan/London/immitrip17.jpg (*sings* We live in a beautiful woooorld..)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v441/aggiechan/London/immitrip18.jpg (weird angel.. lol!)

Afterwards, we made our way back inside. We caught a pic of the two working in the kitchen before the table was set. Heheheee.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v441/aggiechan/London/immitrip19.jpg (love this pic, lol)

The candles were lit in the living room and before we knew it, everything was set. There was a big bowl of rice mixed with chicken at the side of the table, and a clear bowl of salad on the other side.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v441/aggiechan/London/immitrip20.jpg (woah, you can see me taking the picture at the mirror! Oh, I miss Justine’s head.. oops!)

Immi gave us some hot pocket breads and showed us how to pour the sauces and rice into the pitas. Mmmm.. they were delish. More than a week later and I can still taste it in my mouth. I think Immi posted the recipte of this meal on her blog or iGrill, so if you can find it, I highly recommend trying it.

During the meals, we were listening to Franz Ferdinand and Magneta Lane.

After the yummy dinner, we went upstairs to the room just outside the balcony (with the keyboard). Rachelle poked me and asked if we should give her the presents now.. so we did. Yes, we got her presents from Canada. Hehe. It was fun looking for Canadian things. Anyways, Rachelle’s mother handcrafted a beautiful card and some soaps for Immi (the soapies smell nice). Rachelle herself also got her a Toronto mug. I got her a small Canadian keychain, a Toronto shot glass (I thought it was wicked!), and a small stuffed moose. Immi decided to call it Derek. Hehehee.

After that, it was time for the evening concert. The candles from the downstairs dinner table were brought up and placed onto the keyboard, giving off a really calm and comfortable atmosphere. As Justine began taping, Immi began playing. She sang the following songs on the keyboard:

-Come Here Boy
-Let Go
-It’s Good To Be In Love
-Candlelight (this song really fit with the atmosphere)
-The Moment I Said It
-The Walk
-Sleep

It was great to hear Immi play/sing in person.. I thought I would never get an opportunity like this before, or ever again. I believe she sounds many times better live than on a CD. It was just too good. I loved it to death. After that, Rachelle kept poking me to play the small piece I composed for Immi, but I felt to nervous after her playing.

After Justine took a picture of the three of us behind the keyboard, I somehow stayed behind it and began playing. Oy, what a mistake. I played my piano competition piece (Cappricio Op.76 No.2) horribly, because I didn’t practice since the competition which was about two weeks ago. Ugh, I felt so embarrassed, that I felt I needed to cover that mess up. So, yes, I brought up the courage to play the piece I made for Immi. I didn’t tell her it was made for her until the end. Hehe. It was a short piano piece.. I didn’t bother to make any lyrics to it because I can’t sing.. I finished it in one day (not in 24 hours, but within the day) and practiced it the weekend before the trip. Well, enough of that. I hope she liked it. Hehe.

Afterwards, we went downstairs and Immi helped us out with our trip by giving us a book filled with market information, a three-day pass for the tube (thank you! That card was extremely helpful!), and some useful maps of London. She also gave us some suggestions on where to go and what to see. Following that, she and Justine packed up their stuff and headed out since it was getting late (not enough time for the dessert and champagne). We said our byes (I hope you're having a great time in Italy, Justine!) and Immi said she would see us before we left. =)

I think Rachelle and I spent the rest of the time making a plan, watching football on television, and then collapsing on our beds. It was a really nice evening.

(Just because I feel like adding this, around 4am I woke up. It was really difficult for me to adjust to the London time, so I decided to wander around on the balcony, take a few pics that I can’t find on my computer right now, and then watch some tv until dawn came along.)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have any questions, I guess you can post them here. I'll post the other three days (which includes where we did, what we did, and meeting up with Immi again) as soon as possible. =) I hope you enjoyed reading this. I can't help but be descriptive. ^^;

You, my dear, are a nutball when it comes to writing up a report. That thing was longer than my entire report for all 4 days.

Since you've FINALLY posted that, I shall add the link to my own photo album. (keep clicking "Next" until you reach a purple vase thingy)

http://photobucket.com/albums/v475/evil_draconian/London/?action=view&current=eddy_leadenhall.jpg

edit: oh hell I'll add my own version. If you're too lazy to read aggie's, just read mine >.> (although the link will go to all 4 days..) OR if you feel like reading what will essentially be a near-identicaly story (only shortened), then yes, you may also proceed. hahaha...jokes jokes.

lalalala....bloggy URL used to be here...nya nya...

PS - I feel like I've been adding to this post non-stop...when will my edits end?!?!!

PPS - yet again...editing. I've removed my blog link so as to give aggie more...suspense? I dunno. ^_^ (psst...I'm hyper.)

Sounds like you guys had an awesome time. I can't get over the generosity of Immi ... and so totally jealous of all those cds! So, any more juicy Immi details?

Thanks Aggie & Evie for all the info and pictures of your time in London...

WoW! excess really is the new moderation!
Immi pulls all stops out !
Could she have been a better hostess? I think not!

She finds you a stunning pad..meets you at the airport.. cooks for you.. the cd's!! ..balloons.. wine... champagne... a private concert in the living room! THE POWER OF 10!

As a fan.. Imogen's talents as a singer.. songwriter.. and amazing producer come first (always will) .. but im also taken by the quality of her character..not only does she seem very grounded in who she is as a woman...but she has such a big heart....it shines in the music.. and of course.. through things such as this .. She's so kind...thoughtful..and generous to all her fans..(among others ---> http://www.imogenheap.com/thanks/)

it's the little things... you know?
Her music is rare and refresing .. and so is she..
i know i'm not the only one who feels this way..
so i just wanted to say that i think we're all very lucky

ok i'm done gushing...
glad you both had a nice time

Hrm...let's see. I don't want to divulge too much by accident...not that any of it was too private anyway.

She was just...very normal, you know? Felt like we'd known her for a couple years or something. The performance actually wasn't in our living room, but the top porch-like area...the indoor portion, that is. It was night and candles were lit...really cozy atmosphere.

er...i gotta run. but either aggie or I will finish later.

What Evie said. I was so afraid of going all "omg I love you!!!!" on her, but I felt so comfortable around Immi.. she was down to earth, and that really helped us act as we normally do. Like, if you saw me at the Coldplay concert I went to a few days ago.. woah, that was crazy. I'm glad I didn't act like that when I met Immi. And I'm very happy it was like that.

It's really hard to explain the small concert Immi gave to us. When she was playing/singing 'Come Here Boy' everything felt so surreal.. like I couldn't believe I was there. It's one of those "Am I really here?" feelings that something very beautiful is happening and you want to accept that it's real but the other part of you is thinking 'no, things can never be this good.' The feeling was backed up by the whole fact that no one else was around (just us two, plus Justine) and the only thing we could hear was the music. Oy, I hope that makes sense.

As for questions and whatnot, I'll get to that once I finish writing up the journal. Ehehehe.

Heheheheee.

Justine's a close friend of Immi's (went with Immi when she went to L.A. to shoot 'Hide and Seek'..) She took the photos during the L.A. trip and they're in the i-Candy section of Immi's website (you'll see her name on the page). She also took a few shots of us during our first night in London. =)

????? WOW! That's one amaaazing set! When Imogen said "...and play a few songs on the piano", I was expecting just 2 or 3! This is such a great selection: iMeg, details AND speak for yourself! I can't wait to hear The Walk live!! Was it as good as I imagine it to be? Smile Did Imogen also play on that other instument?

Im glad you had a nice time Smile

Thanks!

The Walk was well played, even though some people might think 'can this song really be played on the piano?' It can. =D

She did play a little bit on the other instrument earlier that day, when she was showing us around. It was reaaaaally cool, and she told us where the mic would be put (inside the instrument) when you want to record the music!
